Susan Schmidt, Ph.D.

Co-Director

Susan Schmidt, Ph.D., is a licensed Counseling Psychologist, and is an Associate Professor at the OUHSC Center on Child Abuse and Neglect. Dr. Schmidt has expertise in design, implementation and evaluation of clinical interventions in the areas of domestic violence, child trauma, adolescent problematic sexual behavior, and child maltreatment. She currently serves as the director of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) – funded Child Trauma Services Program, which provides statewide training in child trauma assessment and TF-CBT for ODMHSAS-contracted child mental health treatment providers.

Dr. Schmidt co-directs the OUHSC Child Trauma Services Program, which is comprised of a specialty clinic offering child trauma assessment and family and group-based TF-CBT, graduate student training and supervision, and a child trauma research lab. She is a member of the national TF-CBT trainer network.
Additionally, Dr. Schmidt co-developed, with Dr. Dolores Subia BigFoot, the TF-CBT enhancement for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) children and families – Honoring Children – Mending the Circle.
